This exceptionally well written science fiction story will suck you in and keep you guessing. The author does a masterful job creating a main character that is both despicable and likable. You feel that he is getting what’s coming to him at the same time as routing for him to overcome his situation. I can’t say more about the situation without spoiling the tale. The writing style is wry and humorous. It is written in first person narration that works perfectly for the story and allows for just the right amount of introspection. The narrator teases and intrigues the reader in such a manner that it is darn near impossible to put the book down. I loved this story and intend to read everything this author writes!Product details

Dennis' book is a great read -- in the tradition of H.G. Wells and C.S. Lewis. The reader is transported immediately into the mind of the first person narrator on a fascinating sci-fi journey. I couldn't put this book down! Well written and well constructed. My only objection is the main character who is selfish, rude, even obnoxious. Too bad.
'Phase 4' is the story of Greg Marlowe. Greg is a relatively, but self-centered man who finds himself in an unconventional situation. Something simply is not right about the world around him, and despite the fact that he has everything he could want at his disposal, his life has become a cold and desolate place.
I love Greg Marlowe! He is so unlikeable that he is lovable. The best part about Greg is that he is who he is and he doesn't really care what anyone thinks about him. Greg lives to please himself, but there comes a time when every person has to take a good look at who they really are. That time has come for Greg.
This is the kind of book I love to read. It has moments of humor, clarity, and at times is so simple that its complex beyond reason. This is a fairly quick read, but its interesting and will make you take a look who you are and how you would handle yourself if you were in Greg Marlowe's shoes.

"Phase 4" is unique. The first-person narrative gives us a glimpse into the psychology of the main character Greg Marlowe. Marlowe is one arrogant, anxiety ridden character! His ride into a sort of alternate universe takes on complexities due to his altered mindset.
Suspense, horror, and a bit of humor carry the reader to a very satisfying conclusion.
Phase 4 by David Dennis is a fascinating read and in a great way!
While I was reading this novel, I kept being reminded of classic TV shows like "Twilight Zone" and "Outer Limits." If those shows were on today, "Phase 4" would make a super episode. Combining creepiness with a suspenseful plot, the novel takes you on a surrealistic type of journey that repels at the same time that it fascinates.
For example, I never realized that a landscape of trees and grassy slopes could come across as so very sinister. Strangely atmospheric and unsettling,
"Phase 4" is highly recommended for readers who prefer their reading material to be uniquely off the beaten track.
